QED positivity bounds

چکیده

We apply positivity bounds directly to a $U(1)$ gauge theory with charged scalars and fermions, i.e., QED, minimally coupled gravity. Assuming that the massless $t$-channel pole may be discarded, we show improved are violated unless new physics is introduced at parametrically low scale ${\mathrm{\ensuremath{\Lambda}}}_{\mathrm{new}}\ensuremath{\sim}(em{M}_{\mathrm{Pl}}{)}^{1/2}$, consistent similar results for scalar field theories, far lower than implied by weak gravity conjecture. This sharply contrasted previous treatments which focus on application of energy gravitational Euler-Heisenberg effective only. emphasize cutoff consequence applying under assumption discarded. conjecture an alternative resolution small amount negativity, decoupling limits, allowed not in conflict standard UV completions, including weakly ones.

Positivity bounds on spin-one distribution and fragmentation functions

We establish a connection between the distribution functions of quarks in spin-one hadrons and the helicity matrix for forward scattering of antiquarks off spin-one hadrons. From positivity of this matrix we obtain inequality relations among the distribution functions. Analogous relations hold also for fragmentation functions. The bounds we obtained can be used to constrain estimates of unknown...

Positivity and lower bounds for the density of Wiener functionals

We consider a functional on the Wiener space which is smooth and not degenerated in Malliavin sense and we give a criterion for the strict positivity of the density, that we can use to state lower bounds as well. The results are based on the representation of the density in terms of the Riesz transform introduced in Malliavin and Thalmaier bib:[M.T] [16] and on the estimates of the Riesz transf...

Non-Positivity of the Wigner Function and Bounds on Associated Integrals

The Wigner function shares several properties with classical distribution functions on phase space, but is not positive-definite. The integral of the Wigner function over a given region of phase space can therefore lie outside the interval [0, 1]. The problem of finding bestpossible upper and lower bounds for a given region is the problem of finding the greatest and least eigenvalues of an asso...

Lower Bounds and Positivity Conditions for Green’s Functions to Second Order Differential-Delay Equations

We consider the Cauchy problem on the positive half-line for the differential-delay equation ü(t) + 2c0(t)u̇(t) + c1(t)u̇(t − h) + d0(t)u(t) + d1(t)u(t − h) + d2(t)u(t − 2h) = 0 where ck(t), dj(t) (t ≥ 0; k = 0, 1; j = 0, 1, 2) are continuous functions. Conditions providing the positivity of the Green function and a lower bound for that function are derived. Our results are new even in the case o...

Higher - Order Qed Effects and Nonlinear Qed

After a brief review of higher-order QED effects, a survey is made of novel aspects of QED with emphasis on recent experimental results in strong-field QED: nonlinear Compton scattering and multiphoton pair creation by light. 1 Higher-Order QED Effects Quantum Electrodynamics (QED) describes the interactions between charged particles that are mediated by quanta (photons) of the electromagnetic ...
